About Us
The Manacutees was established in 2024 in Brooklyn, New York. Our brand emerged from multiple aspects of our life coming to a head: scuba diving, a desire to donate to restore and protect our oceans, anxiety, and a career selling software to e-commerce businesses.
Our founder grew up in Seattle, Washington always a stones throw away from a body of water and has a deep-rooted love for the oceans and marine life. Since 2022, we have scuba dove the Blue Hole in Belize, to the sea lions of the kelp forests of San Diego, and all around the coral triangle in Indonesia; and have felt immensely inspired to bring the joys of what we’ve experienced underwater to apparel for anyone.
The Manacutees was born as an effort to have a creative and playful outlet to reduce stress and bridge our passion of scuba diving and love for the oceans.
Our Mission
While we hope our designs bring smiles, we want The Manacutees to also be a means to help support a much more serious matter; protecting and restoring our oceans. To pay tribute to the amazing things we’ve experienced under the sea, we donate 10% of profits towards ocean conservation. The organization we donate to works to restore coastal ecosystems by planting and protecting marine plants. This directly supports communities and scientists who protect and regenerate coastal ecosystems which can be up to 5-10X more effective than rainforests at removing carbon from the air. This work includes planting mangrove trees, restoring kelp forests, coral reefs, seagrass meadows, oyster reefs, and conserving coastal watersheds.
The oceans have the power to reverse climate change and we hope The Manacutees can help be a means to supporting SeaTrees to restore and protect our world above and below the water.
About Our Designs
All designs start with a sketch of an idea we have had at one point or another from being under or around the ocean. These ideas and descriptions are sent to a graphic designer to sketch and collaborate with our vision before coming to life.
